CHARLOTTE, N.C. — April 21, 2026 – Your Farms Your Table (YFYT), a Charlotte farm-to-table group offering catering, community meals, and personal chef services, will open Grey’s Diner and Community Kitchen in the Greater Plaza Midwood neighborhood on Monday, April 27. The restaurant marks an evolution for the group, expanding its reach with a reimagined diner that blends nostalgia, local sourcing, and Michelin-level hospitality.
Led by James Beard–semifinalist executive chef Sam Diminich, Grey’s is rooted in the spirit of the classic American diner, shaped by personal history and a deep connection to community. Named after his son Allan Grey, the restaurant is designed as a place to gather over food that feels both familiar and thoughtfully prepared.

Diners have always been about more than just food; they’re where people connect. Grey’s is our way of bringing that feeling back, while doing it in a way that reflects who we are today working with local farmers, cooking with intention, and creating a space that feels like home for anyone who walks in.

Open seven days a week, Grey’s will deliver classic comfort food made with the care of a fine-dining kitchen. The restaurant offers a selection for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including salads, handhelds, big plates, and bowls, with daily specials, a dedicated kids menu, and housemade desserts. Highlights include:
- Grey’s Short Rib and Eggs with home fries, eggs, spinach, and shorty gravy ($24)
- Fried Chicken and Biscuit with eggs, bacon, and cheddar, served with choice of hash browns or cheddar stone ground grits ($15)
- Overnight Yeast Waffles with honey crisp apple butter, maple, and cinnamon ($12)
- 2 Harmony Ridge Farms Eggs Your Way: served with Belly Brothers bacon or sausage, and choice of hash browns or cheddar stone ground grits ($12)
- Big Sam’s Lasagna with sausage and beef and marinara ($22)
- Fried Flounder Plate with jalapeno hush puppies, fries, and tartar sauce ($24)
There will also be an extensive selection of vegan options, including:
- Black Bean Chilaquiles with salsa verde, tofu, jalapeno, and local tortillas ($14)
- Vegan Marshmallow French Toast with maple and apple butter ($14)
- Sloppy Joe with smoked poblano and caramelized onions on Texas toast ($16)
Dishes are complemented by a beverage program featuring local roaster Enderly Coffee Co., fresh juices, craft cocktails, local brews, and more. Curated by YFYT’s Director of Hospitality and Beverage Riley Ross, soon-to-be favorites include:
- Sugar Magnolia: refreshing and light, this NA cocktail features peach and rosemary tea ($13)
- Moonlight Mile: a twist on a sparkling lemonade, tart and bright, ideal for sipping ($13)
And of course, with any diner concept, desserts cannot be overlooked. Executive Pastry Chef Ann Marie Stefaney has designed a menu featuring classic 5-layer cakes, pies, and an assortment of milkshakes.
Grey’s is designed to be a regular spot where guests can stop in for a cup of coffee, sit at the counter, or linger over a meal with friends and family. Anchored by a restored late-1940s diner car, the space honors its history while introducing something new to the neighborhood, featuring indoor and outdoor seating, garage doors that create an open-air feel, antique jukeboxes that provide decorative accents at booths inside the diner car, and eclectic bathrooms which make for a fun visit. To complement the atmosphere, Grey’s has assembled a playlist that reflects the diner’s vibe, which is both feel-good and a little unexpected, setting the rhythm from morning coffee through evening service.
“We live in a time that can feel divided, and this is our way of creating something uplifting, a welcoming community place for people to gather. This environment is rooted in inclusion, generosity, and fun, where we can connect over food and focus on our similarities rather than our differences,” Diminich adds.
Grey’s Diner and Community Kitchen, located at 3100 The Plaza, is set in a walkable neighborhood with both onsite and nearby street parking, along with easy crosswalk access. Open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., the diner serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner on a first-come, first-served basis. Breakfast is available until 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and until 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. From 2 to 3 p.m., service shifts to a selection of drinks and light snacks. Guests can also shop a range of merchandise, including stickers, T-shirts, and more. For more information, follow Grey’s on Instagram and visit https://www.greysdinerclt.com/ or view the media kit.
