Free event brings national advocates to the Lowcountry to spotlight dialogue, advocacy, and empathy in caregiving
BLUFFTON, S.C. Nov. 24, 2025 – MiraSol Health, a leading community-based nonprofit provider of compassionate palliative, end-of-life, and grief care services in Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, and Hampton counties, will host a national panel of four healthcare leaders for a powerful discussion on the future of caregiving and how empathy, storytelling, and advocacy are transforming care across the country.
The discussion comes at a crucial time. In the U.S., it is estimated that between 53 and 105.6 million adults provide unpaid caregiving for ill, aging, or disabled family members and friends. In South Carolina alone, nearly 770,000 family caregivers provide 737 million hours of unpaid care each year to chronically ill, disabled, or elderly loved ones.
Moderated by James Dismond, CEO of MiraSol Health, the panel will share personal caregiving stories, discuss systemic challenges, and highlight meaningful solutions shaping the future of care. The free, public event will also feature highlights from the PBS documentary Caregiving, executive produced by Bradley Cooper, which will serve as a catalyst for the discussion.
“Caregiving isn’t what happens to us, it’s what happens through us,” said James Dismond, CEO of MiraSol Health. “This conversation is about honoring these stories and building a system that recognizes caregiving not as a burden, but as a shared legacy of humanity. As the nation faces a rise in the aging population, empathy and advocacy must be the foundation for the future of care. We’re grateful to contribute to that dialogue and help shape a more compassionate and connected network for our community.”
This program marks the final event in MiraSol Health’s Empowering Caregiver Series, a four-part initiative dedicated to uplifting, educating, and connecting caregivers throughout the Lowcountry.
